C. Todd Sharkey

This course covers the history of the United States from our nation’s colonial times up to the present with an emphasis on how the past affects our lives today. The text gives special attention to God's providence and the nation's Christian heritage. Weekly work includes reading one chapter of the textbook, answering the section review questions, completing assigned workbook activities and reading at least one chapter from The Thinking Toolbox. Class time will focus on critical thinking through the discussion and analysis of current events and examining how these events may impact our future by looking at the past.

As part of this class, students will be required to complete a National History Day (NHD) type project. The project does not need to be entered into the actual NHD contest. (Optional projects are available for those not wanting to do an NHD type project.)
